The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced May 7.
2004 UCAA Player of the Year
Dan Hojnacki Clarkson
Junior Pitcher (Attica, New York)
A two-time UCAA Pitcher of the Week, Hojnacki led the Golden Knights pitching
staff with a 1.47 ERA and a .184 opponents batting average. He currently ranks
in the top 20 in the nation in ERA and his only two losses of the season came
at the hands of teams currently ranked in the Top 10 nationally.
2004 UCAA Rookie of the Year
Jon Fanning Rochester
Outfield (Singerlands, NY)
Fanning has accumulated 50 hits this season in 113 at-bats to record the
highest batting average (.442) of any Rochester player in 13 seasons en route
to the UCAA lead in the same category. Fanning was twice named UCAA Rookie of
the Week this season.
2004 UCAA Coaching Staff of the Year
Joe Reina Rochester
Reina and assistants Mike Rudd, Mike Fulkerson, Dave Palese, and Stewart Swayze led the
Yellowjackets to a 25-8 regular season mark, improving from a 19-21 record last
season. With a 9-3 conference record, Rochester earned a share of the UCAA
title, the first in school history.
