2004 Men's Crew Awards
The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced May 27.

2004 UCAA Crew of the Year
Varsity Eight   Hobart
A two-time UCAA Boat of the Week, the Varsity 8 is comprised of from cox to bow, Daniel Gilbert, Havilland Campbell, Gardner Loring, John Michael Chadonic, Tim Faxon, Gavin Johnstone-Butcher, Sep Levatich, Michael Grenier, and Michael Hoepp. Undefeated this spring, the crew is currently ranked 19th in the USRowing Collegiate Poll. The lone Division III team in the rankings, Hobart has handed all of its opponents defeats, including then 13th-ranked Michigan. They also downed Division I Colgate by 8.51 seconds. At the UCAA Championships, the Statesmen easily captured the Varsity 8 race, crossing the finish line 16.5 seconds ahead of all of the other boats.

2004 UCAA Novice Crew of the Year
Novice Eight   Hobart
A UCAA Boat of the Week selection as well as ECAC Crew of the Week honoree, the Novice 8 also is sporting an undefeated spring record. Featuring from cox to bow, Nick Hoagland, Ben Draper, Nate Kress, Paul Wasmund, Joe Jameson, David Drennan, Robert Reinheimer, Alex Caruthers, Jared Desrochers, the novice boat garnered wins over Division I opponents Michigan and Colgate this season. They also downed Ithaca and RIT before grabbing top honors at the UCAA Championships with a 30-second win over runner-up Union.

2004 UCAA Coach of the Year
Mike Guerrieri   Hobart
Hobart Head Coach Mike Guerrieri has led the Statesmen to new heights this season, propelling the Varsity 8 into the 19th spot in the USRowing Collegiate Poll for the first time in the program's history. The lone Division III school represented in the poll, Guerrieri's Varsity and Novice 8 boats are undefeated during the spring racing season. Grabbing second place at the inaugural UCAA Championship with 25 points, he helped the Statesmen capture wins in the Varsity and Freshmen eights. He also led Hobart's eights to stunning upsets of then 13th-ranked Michigan.
