2004 Men's Tennis Awards
The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced May 4.
2004 UCAA Co-Player of the Year
Peter Piné Hobart
Junior (Princeton, New Jersey)
Playing exclusively in the No. 1 spot, Piné posted a team-high 20 singles wins
this season, boasting a 20-3 mark overall and a 17-3 record in dual matches. He
ended the season with a nine-match win streak. Piné was 1-0 against ranked
opponents this season, defeating Rochester's Avinash Reddy (#16 in region) 2-6,
6-3, 6-3. Piné was an ITA Northeast Singles Championship quarterfinalist. In
doubles play, Piné posted a 19-8 record. Along with his partner, Trevor
McAndrew, advanced to the ITA Northeast Doubles Championship match.

2004 UCAA Rookie of the Year
Matt Dwyer St. Lawrence
Freshman (Stowe, Vermont)
Dwyer played at the #1 seed for the Saints this spring, finishing with a record
of 14-2 and losing just seven sets. In tournament action, Dwyer finished 4-0,
winning the "A" Singles Flight of the St. Lawrence Icebreaker Invitaional.
Included among Dwyer's wins is a 6-3, 6-1 defeat over Peter Piné of Hobart,
ranked 23rd in the Northeast by the ITA.
2004 UCAA Coaching Staff of the Year
Carol Weymuller Hobart
Weymuller and assistant Rich Lenhart led the Statesmen to the UCAA Championship
and a school record 17 wins this season. Hobart's .850 winning percentage is
the program's best since 1982 (10-1, .909).
