2004 Softball Awards
The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced May 4.
2004 UCAA Player of the Year
Abby Arceneaux Union
Sophomore P/1B (Mechanicville, New York)
A three-time UCAA Player or Pitcher of the Week, Arcenaux leads the league in
both earned-run average (0.51) and batting average (.407). As a pitcher she's
compiled a record of 11-1 and helped Union to an NCAA tournament berth for the
second consecutive year.
2004 UCAA Rookie of the Year
Nikki Dooley Rensselaer
Pitcher (Colonie, NY)
Over 80 innings pitched Dooley has allowed just 8 earned runs (0.70 ERA). In
her first career start she a no-hitter against Cabrini College, one of nine
appearances in which she allowed two or fewer hits. Dudley was named UCAA
Pitcher of the Week twice this season.
2004 UCAA Coaching Staff of the Year
Peter Brown Union
Brown and assistant Brian Speck have led Union to a 21-3 overall regular
season record including a 7-1 mark in UCAA play. This season was the fifth of
Brown's seven at Union in which the team has amassed 20 or more wins. Union
will make its second straight appearance in the NCAA softball tournament
beginning this weekend at Ramapo College.
