2004 Women's Basketball Awards
The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced February 26.
2004 UCAA Co-Player of the Year
Aliza Bogdanich St. Lawrence
Senior Forward (Lyme, New Hampshire)
The Saints leading scorer, Bogdanich was second in the UCAA in overall scoring
(14.3 ppg) and third in conference play (12.3 ppg). She was a two-time UCAA
Forward of the Week. Her efforts helped St. Lawrence to its seventh
consecutive 20-win season and the second seed in the conference tournament.
2004 UCAA Co-Player of the Year
Kaitlyn Saunders Rensselaer
Junior Forward (Windsor, Connecticut)
A four-time UCAA Forward of the Week, Saunders was first in the UCAA in both
overall scoring (16.7 ppg) and in conference scoring (15.9 ppg). She led her
team in scoring in 15 games, helping the Red Hawks to a share of second place in
the conference.
2004 UCAA Rookie of the Year
Anne Hellebush William Smith
Guard (Pittsford, New York)
A two-time UCAA Guard of the Week, Hellebush led all UCAA freshmen in scoring,
ranking sixth in the league overall and ninth in conference play. She led
William Smith in scoring in nine games throughout the season, including a Heron
season-high 26 points against Staten Island on January 3.
2004 UCAA Coaching Staff of the Year
Mary Ellen Burt Union
Led Union to its first-ever UCAA regular-season title with a 13-1 record and
the first back-to-back 20-win seasons in the 29-year history of the program.
Union is 21-3 so far this year and was 22-5 last year. Burt is assisted by
Jamie Seward and Maggie Mukendi.
