The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced May 1.
2004 UCAA Player of the Year
Gretchen Lasda William Smith
Senior Attack (Camillus, New York)
A two-time UCAA Offensive Performer of the Week, Lasda is first in the
conference in free position goals (1.00/gm), second in the league in goals
(3.60/gm) and points (4.60/gm), fourth in draw controls (2.93/gm), and sixth in
assists (1.00/gm). Her 54 goals and 69 points this season are both
career-bests. She scored at least three goals in each of the season's final 12
games, and netted a hat trick in 13 of the Herons' 15 contests. For her career,
Lasda ranks third on the William Smith career list in assists (84) and fifth in
points (220). Her 54 goals this year is tied for 10th on the single season
records list.
2004 UCAA Rookie of the Year
Katie Weber Skidmore
Midfield (Princeton, New Jersey)
Skidmore's third leading scorer, Weber was sixth in UCAA Conference goals and
seventh in points. She was second on team with 45 ground balls. Credited with
14 caused turnovers, she had only has 14 turnovers against despite playing both
offense and defense for virtually every minute of every game.
2004 UCAA Coaching Staff of the Year
Patty Kloidt Hamilton
Kloidt, along with assistants Kim Harrison and Mackay Rippey, led the Hamilton
program to a third place finish in the UCAA with a 6-2 record and an 11-3
overall record entering the UCAA championships. The Continentals have been
ranked as high as 12th nationally this season and started the season with a
school-record six game winning streak.
