2004 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Awards
The 2004 UCAA End-of-Season Awards, announced May 19.
2004 UCAA Outdoor Field Performer of the Year
Allison Benson Rensselaer
Senior (Wurtsboro, New York)
The UCAA pole vault champion, Benson also won the vault at the NYSCTC
championships for the fourth consecutive time. She has also won the indoor
vault championship in all four of her appearances. Benson graduates this
spring as the pole vault record holder for Rensselaer, the UCAA, and the NYSCTC
in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault.
2004 UCAA Outdoor Track Performer of the Year
Jennifer Dias Rensselaer
Freshman (Taunton, Massachusetts)
A three-time UCAA Track Performer of the Week, Dias dominated the UCAA
championship meet with first place finishes in the 200 meters, 400 meters, long
jump, and triple jump. She was also named the NYSCTC Outdoor Track Rookie of
the Year following first place finishes in the 400 meter hurdles and the 4x400
meter relay at the state meet.
2004 UCAA Outdoor Rookie of the Year
Laura Belden Hamilton
(Brookfield, Connecticut)
Belden was the UCAA champion in the javelin throw with a school and meet record
throw of 33.72 meters. She was also named UCAA Rookie of the Week three times
this outdoor season.
2004 UCAA Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year
Mike Howard St. Lawrence
Mike Howard guided the St. Lawrence Women to a first place showing at the UCAA
championship meet and a fourth-place finish at the NYSCTC championships.
Assisted by Deb Lyndaker, Erin Newman, John Newman, and Justin Sievert, Howard
coached the Saints to six individual event wins and two relay wins at the UCAA
championship meet.

2004 UCAA Indoor Field Performer of the Year
Felicia Tsai Rensselaer
Sophomore (Olney, Maryland)
Tsai was the UCAA and NYSCTC champion in the 20-pound weight throw this season,
setting UCAA and Rensselaer records in the event. She was the runner-up in the
throw at the ECAC championships and qualified to compete in the event at the
NCAA championships.
2004 UCAA Indoor Track Performer of the Year
Jennifer Dias Rensselaer
Freshman (Taunton, Massachusetts)
Dias dominated the UCAA championship meet with first place finishes in the 200
meters, 400 meters, triple jump, and 4x400 meter relay. Her performance in the
400 and Rensselaer's mark in the 4x400 relay were both UCAA records. At the
NYSCTC championships she placed in five events and again paced Rensselaer to
victory in the 4x400 relay.
2004 UCAA Indoor Rookie of the Year
Sue Madden Rensselaer
(Reading, Massachusetts)
Madden was the UCAA champion in the shot put, setting a conference record with
her performance while adding a fifth place finish in the weight throw. She was
named the NYSCTC Field Event Athlete of the Meet after another victory in the
shot put at the state meet.
2004 UCAA Indoor Coaching Staff of the Year

championship meet and a fourth-place finish at the NYSCTC championships.
