The 2005 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced May 13.
2005 Liberty League Player of the Year
Kristaps Aldins Vassar
Senior P/OF (Westwood, Massachusetts)
Vassar's leader in every major offensive statistic, Aldins also was strong on
the mound for the Brewers. He led the Liberty League in hits (64), total bases
(96) and doubles (18). He batted .444 on average (.558 with runners in scoring
position), drove in 45 runs, and crossed home plater 40 times himself. As a
pitcher he was Vassar's leader in innings pitched (43), complete games (3), and
wins (3), recording a 3.98 ERA during the year.
2005 Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Year
Jay Josef Clarkson
P/3B (Liverpool, New York)
A two-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week, Josef appeared in five games as a
pitcher and allowed an earned run only once, striking out 12 in 11.2 innings.
He also ranks amongs Clarkson's offensive leaders with a .361 batting average,
26 hits, and 17 runs scored.
2005 Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Year
Dan Price Rochester
1B (Oak Park, Illinois)
An outstanding fielder, Price recorded 305 putouts and a single error in 311
fielding chances for a .997 fielding percentage. He was involved in 38 of 42
double plays turned by the Yellowjackets this season. On the offensive side,
Price recorded a .342 batting average, 39 hits, and 16 runs scored.
2005 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Ron Plourde Skidmore
Ron Plourde led Skidmore to the Liberty League regular-season championship.
After going 2-10 in league play and 15-24 overall last season, the
Thoroughbreds improved to 10-2 and 23-12 this season. The team also went from
hitting .282 last season to .308 this year and the team ERA dropped from 5.87
in 2004 to 4.48 in 2005.
