The 2005 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced May 6.
2005 Liberty League Player of the Year
Tom Spinella Skidmore
Junior Midfield (New Hartford, New York)
Skidmore's top goal scorer, Spinella has scored three or more goals 11 times
this season. Spinella is a four-time Liberty League offensive performer of the
week. The league goal-scoring leader, he is ranked 11th nationally in goals
per game with 3.38 per game. He scored five goals in a win over RPI and three
goals in wins over Clarkson and St. Lawrence.
2005 Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Kevin Russell St. Lawrence
Attack (Madison, Connecticut)
Kevin Russell leads the Saints in points and assists as a rookie and is
third on the team in goals. He is the first rookie to lead the team in scoring
in more than four seasons. He ranks third in the league in assists per game and
fifth in points per game. Russell leads all rookies in the league in points,
assists and goals. He tallied four or more points in six of 14 games this
season, including two five-goal games.
2005 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Terry Corcoran Skidmore
Terry Corcoran and assistant Joe Kostolansky led Skidmore to its first
regular-season conference title. The Thoroughbreds have won a school-record 11
games (11-2, 6-0 Liberty) after going 3-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play
last season. As of May 1, Skidmore ranks second in the nation in scoring
defense, sixth in scoring margin, and eighth in winning percentage.
