The 2005 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced May 10.
2005 Liberty League Player of the Year
Russell Cloder Skidmore
Senior (Hastings, New York)
After missing most of his junior season with a back injury, Cloder retuned to
the line-up at number one singles to lead Skidmore to the Liberty League
championship. He is a three-time all-conference selection in singles and
doubles, and compiled an 11-3 overall record this season including a 6-1 mark
against Liberty League opponents.
2005 Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Jack Martin Skidmore
(Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts)
Jack Martin had a 10-5 record at number six singles and was 6-1 against Liberty opponents,
helping the Thoroughbreds capture the 2005 Liberty League Tournament Championship.
2005 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Roman Czula Vassar
Czula, in his 22nd season at Vassar, led the Brewers to the Liberty League
championship match for the first time in school history, narrowly losing to
Skidmore 4-3. The Brewers compiled a strong 9-6 spring record and had a big
late season win against St. Lawrence to secure the No. 2 seed in the League
Tournament, the best seed as a member of the league. Vassar was 4-2 in Liberty
League competition.
