2005 Women's Basketball Awards
The 2005 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced February 24.

2005 Liberty League Player of the Year
Kaitlyn Saunders   Rensselaer
Senior Forward (Windsor, Connecticut)
The conference leader in both scoring and steals, Kaitlyn Saunders was a nine-time selection as Liberty League Forward of the Week. She was also a two-time choice as the ECAC Upstate Player of the Week and was named to the D3Hoops.com national team of the week on February 1. Rensselaer's leader in nearly every statistical category, Saunders is also the all-time leading scorer in Rensselaer history with 1,487 points through February 20.

2005 Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Marisa Vespa   William Smith
Guard (Watertown, New York)
A five-time selection as Rookie of the Week, Marisa Vespa leads the Liberty League in assists and is tied for 19th in the nation in assists per-game (5.3) as of February 20. Vespa also leads the league in assist-to-turnover ratio and ranks among the top 10 in the league in scoring, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, and steals. She recorded double digits in scoring 14 times the season including a high of 21 points against Nazareth.

2005 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Olympia Scott-Richardson   William Smith
In her first season as William Smith head coach with a roster featuring just five returning players, Olympia Scott-Richardson has established a new record for wins by a Heron rookie basketball boss, while guiding William Smith to its first conference regular season title since 2000. The Herons' .696 winning percentage is the program's best since 1999-2000. Scott-Richardson was assisted this season by Lindsay Drury and Charlie Evangelista.
