The 2010 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced June 10.
2010 Liberty League Crew of the Year
Varsity Eight Hobart
Hobart's varsity eight captured the 2010 Liberty League Championship by 19 seconds over its nearest competitor.
The Statesmen were named the Liberty League Boat of the Week eight times. The crew also captured the Statesmen
Trophy (head-to-head race with Ithaca), the Seneca Cup (head-to-head with Colgate), and a silver medal at the
New York State Championships. The varsity eight was powered by junior Reynoldo Kelly, senior Andrew Fosbrook,
junior Andrew Cobb, junior Jack Trimble, senior Francis Craig, senior Matt Scanlon, junior David Roberts,
sophomore Harold Zurakowski, and senior Carmen Cimini.
2010 Liberty League Novice Crew of the Year
Novice Eight Hobart
The Hobart novice eight won the Liberty League Championship by 3.7 seconds over the runner-up. They were
named the Liberty League Boat of the Week after winning a gold medal at the New York State Championships.
The crew also produced impressive results in the HWS Challenge on the Canal (1st of 3), the Head of the Fish
(2nd of 27), and the Knecht Cup (3rd in petite final). The Hobart novice eight was powered by first-year
Sarah Tanzer, first-year Coty Burgess, first-year Reid Johnson, first-year Rob Nanovsky, sophomore
John Wasmund, first-year Matt Bianco-Splann, first-year Spencer McCormick, first-year Eric Ohnmacht,
and first-year Matt Hubbard.
2010 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Mike Alton Hobart
Alton led the Statesmen to their fifth consecutive Liberty League Championship, sweeping all four events
the team entered, including a 19-second victory in the varsity eight. His crews captured nine Liberty League
Boat of the Week awards, the Statesmen Trophy (head-to-head race with Ithaca), the Seneca Cup (head-to-head
with Colgate), a bronze medal at the Knecht Cup (3V8), two golds and a silver at the state championships
(N8, 2V8, V8), and finished third in the men's points standings at the ECAC Championships.
Alton is assisted by Dan Gilbert and Ford Weiskittel.
