The 2008 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced May 8.

2008 Liberty League Player of the Year
Megan Kaknis   Union
Junior 1B (New Windsor, New York)
Kaknis repeats as Liberty League Player of the Year after leading the league in batting, slugging percentage, on base percentage, hits, runs batted in, and total bases. She hit safely in 27 of 33 games played and had 11 multi-RBI games this season. Kaknis was a three-time selection as Liberty League Player of the Week.

2008 Liberty League Pitcher of the Year
Beth Ameno   Rochester
Junior (Buffalo, New York)
A four-time Liberty League Pitcher of the Week, Ameno ranks eighth nationally as of May 4 with 21 victories on the season. Her 215 strikeouts, 19 complete games, and 181.2 innings pitched are all best among league players. She posted a 0.72 earned run average and a 6-0 record in Liberty League play, allowing only 3 runs in 29.1 innings while striking out 42 opposing batters.

2008 Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Jen Bach   Rensselaer
1B/P (Lansdale, Pennsylvania)
In her first season, Bach led the Red Hawks in home runs (10), runs batted in (43), and fielding percentage (.992). Her 10 home runs matched the school record for home runs in a season and is also best among all league players, while her 43 RBI's rank second in the league. She ranks among the national leaders in home runs per game and RBI per game and hit safely in 26 of 37 games played. In four appearances as a pitcher she posted a 3-0 record with a 1.84 ERA in 19.0 innings pitched.

2008 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Pete Brown   Union
Brown guided Union to 29 wins for the season and into the post season for the fourth straight year, as Union is looking to defend the ECAC Upstate Championship. His team leads the nation in scoring and doubles, is second in batting, and is seventh in slugging. Brown is assisted by Brian Speck.
