The 2008 Liberty League End-of-Season Awards, announced November 18.

2008 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year
Jimmy Robertson   Rensselaer
Senior  Quarterback  (Yonkers, New York)
Robertson ranked first in the Liberty League in yards passing (2328), yards per game (258.7), total offense per game (280.7), passing efficiency (142.2), and touchdowns passes (17). He set school career records in numerous passing categories, including attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns, and was twice names Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week.

2008 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year
Justin Hager   Hobart
Senior  Linebacker  (Salamanca, New York)
A four-time selection as Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week, Hager led all league players with 105 tackles and ranks sixth in the nation in tackles per game. He is the first Statesman to record 100-plus tackles in back-to-back seasons in over 20 years, and broke a Hobart game record with 21 tackles at Carnegie Mellon.

2008 Liberty League Special Teams Player of the Year
Geoff Troy   Merchant Marine
Senior  Kicker/Punter  (Gainsville, Florida)
Troy averaged 39.3 yards per punt this season, placing 20 punts inside the opponents 20 yard lines. He connected several times on the offensive side of the ball, with 18 successful PAT attempts and seven field goals, some of which provided crucial points in wins over St. Lawrence and Rensselaer. Troy was a three time selection as Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week.

2008 Liberty League Rookie of the Year
Drake Woodard   Hobart
Corner Back  (Marcy, New York)
Woodard led all Liberty League players in interceptions with seven on the season and ranks sixth in the nation in interceptions. He had multiple interceptions in two games and his interception in the season finale against Rochester led to the game-winning field goal that clinched the Liberty League championship for the Statesmen. Woodard was a four time selection as Liberty League Rookie of the Week.

2008 Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year
Mike Cragg   Hobart
Cragg led the Statesmen to their sixth Liberty League Championship in the past seven seasons. The team led the league in pass defense, total defense, pass defense efficiency, fewest sacks allowed, and kickoff coverage. After posting an 8-1 record, his career record stands at 97-43. Cragg holds the Hobart records for career wins and career winning percentage. He is assisted by Kevin DeWall, Scott Yoder, Aaron Backhaus, Jon Drach, John Manley, Terry Muffley, and Jim Ryan.
